Ok i have no idea if this will sound right but here goes

Rose De'Lancier
5ft 6, of average build with long dark brown wavy hair.
Her eyes are grey, she enjoys reading and has an artistic flair about her.
Kind natured, and timid.

Aged just 19, Rose was raised by her Aunt and Uncle in Middle Class society.
When she was just 18 months, a fire killed her father and mother. The fire was talked about for years as it never came to light what had actually caused the tragedy.
Her Fathers name was well known, as the most called for weapon smith for nobles and royalty, he, along with his brother, had many small businesses designing and manufacturing bespoke weaponry for the upper class. Many of these items were rather garish, as the nobles had no real need or knowledge of the weapons themselves , and there only purpose usually was to match and co-ordinate with fashionable items of clothing.
This did not mean the weapons themselves were shabby, each one was inspected by either of the 2 brothers before being collected and would certainly be designed to kill.
Since her fathers death less of the small pistols which her Father was renowned for making himself were available.

Being raised by her Aunt and Uncle from such an early age meant that Rose had come to see them as her parents and had been raised accordingly.
She had been sent to middle class schools and had a comfortable life.
She thought about her real parents often and would be often found in the gazing out of the garden window, deep in thought.

On her 18th birthday she was been told a disturbing secret by her Aunt, who had been close with her sister in law right up until her supposed accidental death.
She was handed a small pistol , with a rose signature decal on its handle along with several notes and letters written by her father.
Rose now keen to learn the truth about her past and her parents apparent murder, she must find help to discover the secrets behind the De'Lancier name and soon.

Other notes...

She has been shown how to use many of the weapons made in the families business, but only carries her Rose pistol in a garter belt under her skirt.
If pushed she would be able to make a variety of small weapons with the right tools but hates doing so.

I think she shall fall in love with a dashing young man also, its what she needs!

I like your characters history, I actually think it's more original than you give credit for. Alot fo the time I think we can all try to hard on it and not leave enough to be developed later on and yours has that mystery to it, love it ^^

Jacobi Farrows

There was always something not quite human in the Farrows family. Odd features and colouring, strange attitudes and behaviours, so when Jacobi was born and grew up, seeming to be a normal child from a family where all the men performed military service, people were shocked. Like his father and his father before him, Jacobi entered the military once old enough, and joined a scouting regiment, eventually sent to the heart of the Dark Continent. Through events he refuses to speak of, Jacobi's entire unit was lost, and he somehow managed to escape, seeming different. His return was regarded with mixed feelings. While he returned with the information he'd been sent to retrieve, many questions were raised as to what had happened, and he refused to answer. Stripped of rank and privilege, Jacobi was discharged, finally disowned by his family, seeing him as not only a failure, but a disappointment to their lineage.

His family had always been shrouded in mystery and grim events. Numerous members seemed to disappear at some point in their life, never to be seen, heard of or even mentioned by the family again. Others became members of an authoritative body, making bizarre, but not objectional requests for improvements to communities, facilities or companies. They seemed to think in indecipherable ways, and with high-reaching schemes. Jacobi was never like this, as a child he was bright, but simple in his thinking, observant, honest and kind. His military service changed that. Since then, everything is treated like a joke, humour and grim wit his only reactions.

Standing over 6ft tall, and wiry with it, Jacobi accents his height with a long, tattered coat, covered in weatherproofing wax, plates of leather and scraps of chainmail. On his hips, sits a holster holding a chunky revolving gun, and up his voluminous left sleeve, a wrist-mounted loading device holds a smaller gun, spring-loaded to launch into his palm if needs be. He carries various throwing daggers strapped onto his old uniform, a patches and customised military overall. His face carries a grin, humourless yet charming. His eyes are hollow and devoid of joy, despite his grin. His hair is long and often tied up, though often his decides to braid sections of it.

As well as his daggers, gun and broken cog, improvised into an axe, Jacobi carries a small armory of spell-like powers at his disposal. First and foremost is a shocking touch he refers to as a joy buzzer. Various others seem reminiscient of dark, tribal magic, and invocations of spirits.

Jacobi's reflection is odd, it never seems to quite match up to his own, and sometimes, if viewed from the peripherals, you'd swear you saw a skeletal, demonic visage stuck with a grinning, almost jester-like rictus.

Oooo I like this, full of mystery, makes you want to know more about him. Even though he is so different from the rest of the crew I can see him fitting in quite well. There is a definate need for some like him on board.
