She looked back towards the door, it hadn't opened in a long time "isn't waiting for someone important to you worth the world in some cases? For me it is" She picked up the Salve Julia had given her and wondered whether to keep it for Elsie, she would most likely need a good deal of healing, she sighed to herself, 'more money i don't have' she thought, the only way she could make money was buy being comissioned to build weaponry and it was a vocation she took little joy in. When she finally looked back at Julia and said "But then the same question could be asked of you? Is the reason your here worth this tension?"

Julia hadn't realised the extent of what this person must mean to Victoria, then she realised, was there anyone in her life she really would go through that much for? Avoiding the question, she reached into her bag.
'More salve, just in case.' She stated, indicating she had endless supplies of it already. 'Besides, it's not often I take time to enjoy anothers company these days, perhaps I shall wait with you. If I can find a different beverage that is nto alcoholic or tasting of sewer water.'

Victoria smiled "Thankyou so much, i am sure Elsie will need much healing when she finds me, we got seperated she was being chased in the opposite direction... but she always survives... she has to survive. what about some form of fruit juice, apple per say or milk...? For me a glass of wine does me the world of good" Victoria dropped the extra salve into her bag, she was truly grateful and had often wished she had a healer aboard the Notre Liberte but Elsie distrusts most people and she didn't want to make her uncomfortable which meant she had to try and use her rudimentory knowledge of medicine which was limited indeed. She noticed the lack of weapon on Julia and suddenly felt silly having her drill so tightly holstered to her hip, she undid the buckle and placed it on the bar "That feels better, stupid thing is heavy, not meant for a women like me but for my... a man's grip"

'Elsie hmmm? You make it seem this is a regular occurance?' Julia laughed, and found it wasn't forced. 'I'd be happy to heal her when you find her, it's really the least I can do for your company tonight.' She added. After all, she had been planning to heal someone tonight anyway, it was just not the person she thought.

Julia eyed the gun on the bar, and then realised it was not a gun after all, and Victoria had been right, it was made for a man. Julia had noticed the slip but decided not to prod, after all, Victoria had enough on her mind as it was.

'I think I have given up on the beverages here myself, tell me, who is Elsie?'

"Really you will!?! that would truly mean the world to me" She smiled and her eyes seemed happy for the first time "It sometimes can be, me ending up in places such as this, its a rule that should we be seperated we go to the seediest bar in the area and wait it out, i wouldn't know what i would do if i truly lost her, i think my soul would shatter" She pondered over the next question, how to explain who Elsie was... she was a sort of anomolie in a way, one of a kind "Elsie is a young girl who origionated in Ireland, she is also my captain, i fly aboard an airship named the Notre Liberte, i can imagine you thinking why on earth is such a young girl captianing me... in truth its because my sense of direction is truly appalling! i get lost in the town in which i grew up in!!!" She smiled at Julia, she had noticed her looking at her gun turned drill and whispered "do not worry, its only a drill, it used to be a gun, but i now have a severe aversion to them so i converted it into something useful"

'This Elsie, she certainly seems like a remarkable young lady, I should enjoy meeting such a person that you hold in such high esteem.' Julia smiled when she thought of the gun-turned-drill. 'Another thing we have in common, causing another pain is something I do no longer, I now heal the pain instead.' Julia wondered if she had let too much slip, it had been a long time since she had had a conversation with someone she was not healing. And she found she was enjoying it.
Julia remembered when she had been on her ship...but that was a long time ago now. She did miss the companionship, and hoped she had not grown so cold that she could not find that again.

"She really is, and i love her like she was a daughter to me" She too looked at the drill, the once beloved gun of choice for her husband. "I understand that, i unfortunately have very rudimentory skills in medicine but i get by, i suppose i caused pain in an abstract way inventing guns for the militia is something i can no longer stomach, i wonder how i ever did." Victoria looked at Julia, she had found the longer she talked to the young woman the more rational and calm she could be about the current situation of Elsie. "You should visit our ship if you have time! once Elsie has been located, its not very big or grand but its sentiment holds true, its our little freedom" Victoria's eyes were excited she'd left all her friends behind on the day of her husbands funeral and had often yearned for companionship of a young woman of similar age.

The Russian man squares up to the aviator, towering above him.

"And what if I have crew and ship already? You know nothing of me and assume I will drop everything to work for someone I know equally little about? And I thought the things I have seen would drive me insane. As for this 'Red Star' business, I laugh at it. They did not suffer and fight for the freedom as my Mother Russia did, to form the great CCCP (OOC: SSSR fyi)."

He finishes his pint and signals for a refill from the barman, who uncorks another bottle of beer and pours it before handing it over.

"Besides, you haven't even introduced yourself, I was led to believe you people had thing about good manners. Seems I was misinformed, da?"

"The CCCP?" Quicksilver says, thinking back to his files, and wondering if he had made some grave error. "Forgive me sir, but what you say and what i have in my files are very different indeed. If i have offended, then my appologies. I am Horatio Quicksilver, Captain of the bonaventure, and privateer for the Queen of Lions" He decided, on the spur, to go the whole hog and made a small, understated military bow.

"However, i have to say, if you aren't who i think you are, then you have a brother as identical as they come. that, or i've finally turned sour on the mumbleweed."

"It is Soyuz Sovetskikh Sotsialisticheskikh Respublik, or Union of Soviet Socialist Republics. But that was a lifetime away. I work for much grander cause now. I am Grigori, though you probably know that already. What you may not know is my purpose in this world. That is something you will have to find out for yourself, tovarisch."

Grigori slugs back a hefty measure of his beer.

"It is possible that there is another Grigori somewhere... This world's Grigori, or whatever he may be called. But he is certainly not me. And I am not him.

Julia found herself lost for words, the thought of having a crew again...it brought joy and pain together. Having people around her again was something she selfishly yearned for everyday, butthe pain of losing her last crew, knowing it was her fault...she shook herself. She was lonely, but lonely enough to selfishly put others in danger?
'Perhaps.' She said smiling, the smile not quite reaching her eyes. 'You may find this Elsie not as accommodating as yourself.' she added.
The men's discussion across the bar was radiating tension. The Russian especially appeared ready to throw a punch at any second, the alcohol they both knocked back did not appear to be helping matters either.

Victoria smiled "Elsie does seem difficult sometimes but she has lost so much that it makes her distrusting at times, but then if she knows i trust you then i'm sure she would come round, plus having a medic aboard would be an invaluable asset, i wouldn't worry half as much" she laughed, she really did want Julia to fly with them, just the two of them though better than one got lonely sometimes. She sensed Julia's tension and looked back towards the two men at the bar... she didn't like the feelings coming from them, fighting made her uncomfortable, it was then she noticed that one of the men was covered in foreign military insignia... she shifted in her seat, people from the military of any country made her blood boil, mostly at herslef 'how could i have created weaponry for those dogs' she thought to herself, she really wished they could move to a different table further away from the bar and those two men, but moving meant showing weakness and in a place like this it wasn't a good thing to show.

Julia panicked. She wanted to say yes to Victoria, never before had she been tempted by the offers of travelling aboard someones ship, but this woman, who had no idea who she was or her skills, innocently wanted her to travel...but could she really put this woman, who had been so kind to her, and her friend in danger?
She tried to keep herslf in check, to give nothing away, she would have to be honest with Victoria, then, if they still wanted her, she would join them. Excitement coursed through her, 'wait Julia, hold on, they may not want the extra danger you bring.' she told herself.
Julia was about to speak when the bar door's banged open loudly.

Julia looked torn she was about to speak when the bar door swung open and she looked up suddenly she couldn't quite see who it was through the glare of light pouring through the door...

Victoria carried on smiling at Julia, studiously ignoring the two men at the bar, she so wanted her to say yes, she needed this not just for Elsie but for herself. Julia looked torn she was about to speak when the bar door swung open and she looked up suddenly she couldn't quite see who it was through the glare of light pouring through the door, when they finally stepped into the shadows she saw the form of a young slim girl about near to collapsing, Victoria cried out 'ELSIE!!! my dear girl, are you ok? no of course your not come come, sit down you must be so tired and pained' Tears were spilling out of Victoria's eyes while Elsie just looked mildy annoyed and admittedly very tired, she pulled her onto a stool and looked her face properly she had a cut lip and was bruised around the eye, who knew what other injuries lay beneath her clothing, she pulled her hand away from Elsies arm and the scent of blood surrounded her, she felt faint, not nearly as bad as Elsie must have though, Elsie managed to mumble "jeez your not my mum" she peered round Victoria's shoulder "whos this then?" Victoria looked round almost desperately at Julia, "Julia! her names Julia, she is a healer, please Julia help her" She was close to tears as she implored Julia to help her...

Panic, confusion and all other emotions forgotten Julia began to do what she believed she was born to do, healing. She reached out to feel for broken bones but paused, looking at Elsie she said 'This may hurt.' And proceeded to check over Elsie's body for broken bones, trying to ignore Elsie's telltale gasps of pain she nodded.
'Two broken ribs and probably a hefty concussion looking at this head wound.' She added, parting Elsie's hair. Julia frowned, who had this young woman been fighting?
Julia gave Victoria a reassuring smile. 'It's a small wound, head wounds bleed much more than regular ones, but the cut is small, I promise, I'll apply some medicine paste and bandage, as for the ribs...rest is all I can offer, no big movements or they might not set properly.' She laid a hand on Victoia's arm, Elsie looked a little dizzy and unstable so she stated to Victoria instead 'She will be fine, she must take it easy though.' Julia warned.

Victoria hovered warily watching Julia's skilled hands move over Elsies body, hearing her gasp in pain made her heart break... When Julia was done she turned around and explained everything to her, she nodded in silence, but when she said the words "she'll be fine" she breathed a sigh of relief and before she knew what she was doing pulled Julia into a hug, "Thankyou, Thankyou so much, you have no idea how much this means to me! I don't have much to offer except a place by my side on our ship, please! except my offer, i cannot imagine leaving without being of some service to you, even if just a short journey!!!" while all this was happening neither of them had noticed Elsie had fell asleep on the bar, Victoria gave a little relieved laugh before pulling the injured child into her arms and stroking some of the blood away from her hair, Victoria whispered "shhhh my darling girl, sleep and rest a while" She looked back up at Julia hope clearly displayed in her eyes

Julia stood shocked whilst Victoria hugged her, this was something she was used to after healing someone's loved one but Julia had never known how to react to it. Luckily, they were both distracted by Elsie slumped on the bar sleeping. Julia grinned, as long as they watched her breathing she would be fine to sleep it off.

Julia took a deep breath, Victoria's plea running around her head, tempting her. 'Victoria, you must know, I have not always been a healer, and many people...resent my former occuptaion, no more than I resent it myself, much like you resent having made weapons for the army.' Julia sighed. 'My last crew died because they hunted me, some for what I had done, and some because I was no longer willing to do it. You must know the danger you would be in, you and your captain.'

Julia looked at the floor, awaiting rejection, and hardened herself. She would not blame them for making the sensible decision.

Victoria looked at Julia, a little stunned by her confession, it didn't change anything though. "who you were is in the past, if it made you the kind person you are today then it doesn't matter to me, To be honest i could say the same to you, me and Elsie have our fair share of enemies, which as you can see resulted in this today, we have had crew before and they have left considering the dangers that we bring but if we stand together i feel that we can overcome them. My offer still stands if you wish to fly aboard the Notre Liberte there will always be a place for you!" She smiled at Julia, she had looked so dejected after confession she had probably told others of this and been pushed away, Victoria was not one to do that, how could she push this young woman away for dangers she could bring when flying with her could bring equal dangers to Julia... She took Julia's hand and said "I don't care about your past, and if you are hunted surely you are safer surrounded by friends, loneliness can be more dangerous, it can help them isolate you"
Elsie shifted slightly in her sleep making Victoria jump "And this one is indebted to you, she can hardly complain about your flying with us"

Julia laughed as Victoria jumped and gave her hand a squeeze. 'Then consider me your new Medic' she stated, happily. 'Let us have another drink to celebrate!' Julia said, laughing again. Then she looked over at the two men.
'It looks as though they have already had enough to drink.' She laughed again, but there was a worried edge to it.

Victoria smiled triumphantly and said "I indeed will drink to that" she too looked over at the two men, they seemed to be getting more and more intense "i agree those two men seem to be a bit worse for wear" The two men made her nervous but espeacially the seemingly foreign one, that military insignia... anyone who worked for any goverment made her feel shifty... but that couldn't taint the happiness she felt at this moment in time.

Charles descended the steps carefully, and stopped just short of the door, where a small plaque caught his attention.

"The… Neverending Task…" he rasped.

After another moment, he resolved to enter, to spare himself from the growing chill outside. He drew his scarf up over his mouth, took a deep breath, and reached for the door handle.

Upon entering, the warmth of the place washed over him. His eyes darted around the room, taking in the various patrons, all engrossed in their conversations. He also took note of the strong smell which hung in the air - that would do well to hide the chemical odour that usually emanated from him.

He passed swiftly through the room, heading straight for the bar. He pressed his scarf into his face, and drew one more deep breath, then lowered it, revealing a smile to the somewhat bemused bartender.

"My good man!" he called, his voice suddenly clearer. "Whiskey, if you please."

The bartender nodded, and let out a chuckle, whilst Charles rifled through his jacket for his coins. Placing the contents of his pockets on the bar, he picked up his drink, and took a seat at a table in the corner of the room. He took a sip of whiskey and glanced curiously at the band as they played.
